1. Introduction
- Hello, my name is Amy Jobe. I am currently a graduate student at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I am pursuing a second master's degree in School Counseling. I graduated from Northeastern State University with a B.S. in Education of Early Childhood and M.ED of Reading. I have been teaching for 12 years, 2 years as a Kindergarten teacher and 10 years as a Special Education teacher. My future plans include serving as a school counselor in the public education field. My husband and I have 5 children. We have 2 children who have graduated from SPS. Our younger 3 children are in grades 9 and 7. I am excited to advance in my career as a school counselor. I plan to collaborate with professionals, school faculty, parents/guardians, and students to provide support and guidance to all in need of services. I will place emphasis on implementing individual and group counseling to assist students. I look forward to helping students reach their full potential.
American School Counseling (ASCA)
- ASCA is a professional organization supporting school counselors, school counseling students/interns, school counseling program directors/supervisors and school counselor educators.
- The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs outlines the components of a comprehensive school counseling program for the purpose of creating unity and focus toward improving student achievement.
- ASCA specifies the obligation to the principles of ethical behavior necessary to maintain the high standards of integrity, leadership and professionalism.
- ASCA helps school counseling programs enhance and promote all students' success. To achieve this, the ASCA National Model includes four components to guide the school counselor specifically on what to do: Define, Manage, Deliver, and Assess.
The four components
Define- This component of the ASCA model aims to identifying the standards that define a comprehensive school counseling program.
Manage- This component will help to manage the school counseling program.
Deliver- This component focuses on the method of implementing the school counseling program directly to students and indirectly for students.
Assess- This component focuses on the emphasis of ongoing formative assessment to inform improvements of a school counseling program.

2. Foundation
- Vision Statement: All students have unique and individual potential and are capable of achieving the highest of success. Students should be equipped with the skills necessary for them to achieve their academic, career, social and emotional goals. Students deserve to feel safe at school and should feel comfortable and confident in expressing their thoughts and concerns. Every student has the right to reach their full potential. The mandates and guidelines of the ASCA set the standards for the school counseling program. The comprehensive school counseling program is driven by data through an ongoing review of service delivery.
- Mission Statement: The Sunshine Public Schools guidance and counseling program promotes the career, academic and personal/social development of all students, PK-12, in an effort to assist them in reaching their individual potential as successful and productive adults.

By law, professionals are ethically obligated to report any form of abuse or harm to the proper authorities.
American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Position School counselors recognize their primary obligation regarding confidentiality is to the student but balance that obligation with an understanding of the family or guardians’ legal and inherent rights to be the guiding voice in their children’s lives (ASCA, 2016).

3. Delivery
School counselors are vital members of the education team. School counselors focus their skills, time and energy on direct and indirect services to students. School counselors design and deliver comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student achievement. School counselors help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development. The ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs outlines the components of a comprehensive school counseling program. When a school counselor delivers ASCA National Model comprehensive school counseling services, students receive measurable benefits. At Sunshine Public Schools we provide a collaborative comprehensive school counseling program by delivering ethical counseling services to all students PreK - 12th grade based on data-driven information. Guidance curriculum lessons are developed to provide instruction for skills in career, academic, and personal/social development for all students through individual, large, and small group instruction. The school counselor will consult with parents and faculty to share effective strategies that support students. Monthly parental workshops will be held as a means to collaborate with parents, professionials, and community members.

4. Management
Direct and indirect school counseling services are provided for all students. Direct services consist of face-to-face interaction and includes assistance with the application process, consultation or human development skills (such as assessment, training, classroom guidance, etc.). Direct services also include, but not limited to, referral for services, individual and group counseling, classroom guidance, and consultations with teachers, students, parents, support personnel, referring agencies, etc. Indirect services include, but not limited to, program planning and professionial development. As a counselor, I will spend 80% of my time providing direct services. The remaining 20% of my time will be used on indirect services. An Advisory Committee will be established to help identify student needs and priorities. The committee will serve as advisers and advocates. The committee will consist of teachers, administrators, parents and representatives from post-secondary institutions, business and the local community. The Advisory Committee will meet at 7:00 PM in the high school conference room on the second Monday of every month Volunteers are needed.
